Guide
A MICAT mock is useful only if it rehearses the whole selection-style cognitive shift: psychometric consistency, descriptive expression, divergent/convergent thinking and conventional aptitude. Practising only QA/Verbal misses what makes MICAT different.
Do not score every section the same way
Psychometric is qualifying, so review consistency and whether you rushed/overthought responses rather than hunting a ‘correct answer’. For Descriptive, review structure, relevance, originality and whether you completed within the limit. For aptitude, track score/accuracy like a normal test.
One mock, four reviews
- Psychometric: did you answer naturally and consistently?
- Descriptive: was the argument/story clear, specific and complete?
- Divergent/convergent: could you generate options, then decision ruleally?
- Aptitude: where did time and negatives leak?
Mock frequency
Full MICAT-style mocks should come after you have sampled every component. Before that, use smaller blocks—one descriptive prompt, one divergent-thinking exercise and one aptitude section—so a full mock is not your first exposure to the format.
What improvement looks like
A better mock is not simply a higher aptitude score. It is fewer incomplete descriptive responses, calmer psychometric execution, quicker idea generation and stable aptitude cutoffs. That is the balanced profile the exam format demands.
Put this rule into one measurable experiment
In your next MICAT mock, change only one behaviour connected to micat mock & practice strategy. Decide the rule before the timer starts, then record its effect on attempts, accuracy, questions unseen and time lost. CAT/XAT/GMAT is mandatory in addition to MICAT. Psychometric is a qualifier; MICAT aptitude and descriptive sections have cutoffs; selection continues to GE/PI.
If the experiment improves score but creates a new section collapse, it is not yet a usable strategy. Repeat it once on a different paper before locking it. Exam strategy should survive a harder set or unfamiliar question mix; otherwise it is only a lucky mock pattern.

Why On Your Mocks?
A mock score tells you what happened. OYM helps you understand what went wrong and what to work on next.
