ATMA Speed & Accuracy Strategy

ATMA rewards speed, but its −0.25 negative mark means an aggressive attempt count is useful only when the extra questions are informed attempts. Your target is a high number of *seen* questions and a controlled number of risky answers.

ATMA rewards speed, but its −0.25 negative mark means an aggressive attempt count is useful only when the extra questions are informed attempts. Your target is a high number of *seen* questions and a controlled number of risky answers.

Build speed through recognition

For Quant, speed comes from recognising a standard setup before writing equations. For Verbal, direct grammar/vocabulary questions should be quick so RC receives enough time. For Analytical Reasoning, classify the question before solving—series/coding/arrangement/inference—then use the shortest representation.

Use three confidence buckets

`A`: answer is clear; solve now. `B`: method is visible but needs work; return if time. `C`: weak idea/no route; leave unless you can eliminate meaningfully later. This prevents one 30-minute section from being consumed by medium-hard questions while easy marks remain unseen.

Measure net efficiency

After a mock calculate marks per 10 minutes for each section. If attempts rise but net score per 10 minutes falls, you are buying coverage too expensively. Also compare second Verbal/Quant/Analytical sections with the first to identify fatigue.

A good speed strategy should leave you less rushed at the end without increasing negatives. If the only improvement is that you clicked more options, it is not improvement.

Put this rule into one measurable experiment

In your next ATMA mock, change only one behaviour connected to atma speed & accuracy strategy. Decide the rule before the timer starts, then record its effect on attempts, accuracy, questions unseen and time lost. Six tightly timed 30-minute sections; 200+ B-schools; fee concessions officially offered for women and North-East candidates.

If the experiment improves score but creates a new section collapse, it is not yet a usable strategy. Repeat it once on a different paper before locking it. Exam strategy should survive a harder set or unfamiliar question mix; otherwise it is only a lucky mock pattern.

Why On Your Mocks?

A mock score tells you what happened. OYM helps you understand what went wrong and what to work on next.
